It is important to learn everything you can about search engine keyword research. Overture provides an online tool that will give you data on how often particular keywords are entered into their search engine. They also offer suggestions for keywords after you enter a description of your site. One of the key differences between SEO and PPC is that it takes minutes to set up a PPC campaign versus months to establish a good SEO campaign. The PPC campaign generates the results very quickly once it is set up. The SEO is set up through html code or through a Content Management System like Net-Teams and consists of establishing a title, description and set of keywords or phrases. I have found that phrases work better than single words. Another difference is that PPC is paid advertising and can be expensive, whereas SEO is free. You will notice that the location of your site in an SEO campaign will be in the “Organic” section of the search results page, whereas the PPC ads show up in the advertising areas of web sites and search results. Google has an AdSense program where web site owners get commissions on the payments from PPC’ers ads that show up on their web site and are actually clicked. The Organic search results only show up on the search engine’s web site. All in all, I like the hands off approach of the SEO campaign. I carefully pick the keywords once, and push the Organic searches through cross-referencing links from other partner sites. And when it comes to spending money on advertising, I think there are much more cost effective ways to get traffic to your web site. We will cover this in another article. (c) 2007 by Teo Graca |
